The New Zealand flag got to fly high with Christchurch teenager Winni Goldsbury winning the junior women’s title in her World Cup debut. National champion Charles Murray returns for the third round of the Enduro World Cup after his outstanding victory in the last event in Poland, while a gang of young kiwi chargers were outstanding in the downhill. Cambridge professional Sam Gaze claimed another strong performance in the UCI Mountain Bike XCO World Cup, finishing 11th in the third round at Nove Mesto na Morave in the Czech Republic.

New Zealand enduro star, Charles Murray has claimed the narrowest of wins in the second round of the Whoop UCI MTB Enduro World Cup in Poland.
The Specialized Enduro Team rider managed to hold on through a wet and slippery downhill final stage to claim his first UCI World Cup victory by just 0.095 seconds from local Polish rider Lukasik Slawomir at Bielsko-Biala. Kiwi mountain bikers are out in force around the globe this weekend, with over 50 riders competing in UCI World Series events in Poland and Malaysia. The UCI World Series for enduro racing started last weekend in Italy, and backs up on Saturday (NZ time) with the second round in the southern Polish city of Bielsko-Biala. The region also hosts the second round of the UCI Downhill World Series in the Beskidy Mountains with both facilities used for the first time at this level. |
